Stabbing in Line at Homeless Food Truck Leads to Assault Conviction

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 68 year-old Haywood Barleston of 300 Ellicott Street pleaded guilty to Attempted Assault in the First Degree before Supreme Court Judge Buscaglia.

Barleston admitted that on September 28, 2012 at about 7:00 p.m. he intentionally stabbed an acquaintance, Melvin Moore, 58 years-old of 57 Moeller Street, in the throat with a knife while they both were waiting in line at Ellicott and Clinton for food handouts at a food truck for the homeless.

Barleston faces 3 ½ -15 years when they are sentenced on December 20, 2012.
