02/21/2017: Akron Water System Update

This is a message from John Asmus, Village of Akron Chief Water Plant Operator:

The Village of Akron has levels of total trihalomethanes above drinking water standards.  Although this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we are doing to correct this situation.  We routinely monitor for the presence of drinking water contaminants.  Testing results we received on 1/23/17 show that our system exceeds the standard or maximum contaminant level for total trihalomethanes (TTHM's).  The standard for TTHM's is 80 micrograms per liter.  The average level of TTHM's over the last year was 81.7 micrograms per liter.

If you have any questions, please feel to call the Akron Water Plant at 585-547-9410 or
