11/17/2015: Current Electronic Recycling Program to End on November 25, 2015

Wednesday November 25, 2015 will be the last day that the Village of Akron/Town of Newstead will be accepting electronic waste to be dropped off by our residents at the Joint Municipal Facility located at 12707 Clarence Center Road.  No electronics will be allowed to be dropped off after this date.  Starting in 2016 Akron/Newstead residents will need to present a valid recycling permit to drop off their electronics.  No electronics will be allowed to be dropped off without a permit.  The permits are free of charge.  Permits and further details about this program will be mailed to our residents.  Due to the increased cost of recycling cathode ray tubes (CRT's) we are forced to adopt this new program.

The Village of Akron/Town of Newstead will be sponsoring three (3) electronic recycling events.

The first event will be held on a date to be determined in January 2016 from 9:00 AM - Noon at the Joint Municipal Facility located at 12707 Clarence Center Road.

The second and third events will be held during our household hazardous waste collections in May and October of 2016.  Please check our website and local media for exact dates when they are scheduled.
