Educator Dr. Kush K. Bhardwaj Honored as Citizen of the Month by
Majority Leader April Baskin
Buffalo, NY – On Thursday, February 15, 2018 Erie County Legislature Majority Leader April N.M. Baskin presented educator and lecturer Dr. Kush K. Bhardwaj with the Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month Award for February 2018.
Dr. Bhardwaj has a distinguished career teaching African American Studies, American Studies, Anthropology, Global Gender Studies and American Pluralism at SUNY Brockport, Niagara County Community College and the University of Buffalo. He is a three time winner of the Milton Plesur Distinguished Teaching Award and delivered a “Tedx Talk” entitled “Does African American Studies Matter?” in Buffalo in 2016. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Admissions at Medaille College. . Teacher, mentor and scholar, Dr. Bhardwaj is devoted to enriching and challenging students in Erie County to reach new heights of academic and intellectual excellence.
Legislator Baskin stated: “Dr. Bhardwaj’s energy and passion is limitless when it comes to teaching his students the importance of embracing culture. He is fearless about pushing his students to ‘think about the way you’ve been trained to think’ and works tirelessly to ensure students understand all aspects of cultural relevance in African American studies.”
Established in 2010, the Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month Award recognizes individuals who have achieved great heights in their professions, have retired from distinguished careers, have demonstrated excellence in arts and sports, or have made extraordinary contributions to the quality of life or quality of place in Erie County.
