Majority Leader Baskin Seeks Interns

These are non-paid internships. Legislator Baskin’s office will provide college credit (per college's procedures) & formal letter reviewing work. Each internship is 15 hours per week.

Internship A, Media Relations

Intern will perform a wide range of communication and public relations duties with constituents. Responsibilities include:

  • Connecting our office with media representatives and organizations within Buffalo's urban community;
  • Create social media announcements based on government activities;
  • Assist planning weekly radio/live video content;
  • Draft responses to inquiries from constituents and press;
  • Assist with writing press releases, newsletters, website content and speeches;
  • Help arrange and attend public appearances or special events with Legislator Baskin.

Internship B, District Office Assistant

Intern will perform a wide range of data collection and office maintenance duties. Responsibilities include:

  • Filing, typing, entering data, and maintaining office records;
  • Receiving phone calls and directing them to proper personnel;
  • Communicate with constituents and help identify their needs;
  • Taking shorthand notes of communications with constituents, and helping with them to complete forms and paperwork.

Candidate must be familiar with computers, software applications, and databases. Must be able to prioritize information. Must write in a clear and concise manor.
