Chairwoman April Baskin Announces Annual Buffalo Black History Bee Family Competition

Event to be held virtually this year and can include additional family members playing from the same home

 

Buffalo, NY –Erie County Legislature Chairwoman and District-2 Legislator April N.M. Baskin is again sponsoring the Buffalo Black History Bee in collaboration with the Buffalo Public School’s Office of Parent & Family Engagement. This year’s competition will be held virtually due to COVID-19 concerns. Participants will connect on Zoom but the event itself will be livestreamed via Facebook on the BPS Parent Center Facebook page for all to enjoy.

 

This year’s event will test participants’ knowledge of Black and African American history from the African Diaspora through the Civil War. Additional categories will also focus on the long battle for Civil Rights in American from the Antebellum period through contemporary struggles and the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Study guides will be provided via email and regular mail, but cannot be used during the event.

 

This year’s event is also sponsored by Say Yes Buffalo and The Buffalo History Museum, and once again, the victorious group will receive the Eva Doyle Black History Trophy along with additional prizes.
