Betty Jean Grant Reappoints Karima Amin to Erie County Corrections Panel

At a legislative session held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, Erie County Legislature Democratic Leader Betty Jean Grant nominated Karima Amin to be reappointed to the Erie County Community Corrections Advisory Board - a committee of the Erie County Legislature, whose purpose is to offer suggestions and advice on the improvement of services and programs at the Erie County Correctional Facility and the Erie County Holding Center.

Pursuant to INTRO 8-3 (2014), the minority leader of the Erie County Legislature shall recommend one individual for consideration of appointment to the Board, and as such, Betty Jean Grant recommended Ms. Karima Amin, who has served as a member of the ECCCAB since its inception in 2011.

“As both a Board member, and as president/founder of the organization Prisoners Are People Too, Inc., Ms. Amin has the necessary qualifications, knowledge base, and an intimate understanding of the issues surrounding community corrections,” said Betty Jean Grant.

Karima Amin has served with distinction as an original member of the Erie County Community Corrections Advisory Board, and Legislator Betty Jean Grant has full confidence in her ability to continue to serve as a Board member, knowing firsthand that Ms. Amin will once again put her all into the important work of the ECCCAB.
