Democratic Caucus Advances Reappointment of Frank Mesiah to the ECMCC Board of Directors

Buffalo, NY- One of the three directorships afforded to the Erie County Legislature is now on track for reappointment following the unanimous vote by the Legislature recommending that Governor Andrew M. Cuomo reappoint Frank B. Mesiah to the Board of Directors of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation.

The Legislature’s recommendation, which was championed by the Democratic Caucus led by County Legislator Betty Jean Grant, seeks a “continuity of excellent service” in keeping Mr. Mesiah on this important public hospital board, especially in that Mr. Mesiah has been a long serving board member and top community leader.

At their Regular Session of the Legislature, held at “Old County Hall” in Downtown Buffalo January 29, 2015, the Legislature provided the opportunity for the continuation of a voting position on the ECMCC Board for Mr. Mesiah.

“Frank B. Mesiah has served with distinction as a member of the ECMCC Board of Directors, and has been an active and contributing director with a deep understanding and appreciation for the important work of the hospital, as well as ECMCC’s core mission,” stated the Democratic resolution, which also was sponsored by Buffalo Democrats Barbara Miller-Williams, Peter J. Savage III, Patrick B. Burke, and Amherst Democrat Thomas A. Loughran.

The final step in the appointment process occurs when the unanimous recommendation of the County Legislature is forwarded to Governor Cuomo, who is expected to formally reappoint Mr. Mesiah’s to the ECMCC Board, with a term extending to the end of February, 2020.
