County Legislators join Bisons for first pitch, celebrate 130 years of professional baseball in Buffalo

Members of the Erie County Legislature’s Majority Caucus joined the Buffalo Bisons to throw out the first pitch at the game on Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 at Coca-Cola Field.   Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo took to the mound and threw out the first pitch before the Bisons hosted the Pawtucket Red Sox.

“On behalf of the Erie County Legislature’s Majority Caucus, I want to wish the Bisons the best of luck this season! I also encourage everyone to make their way down to the ballpark sometime this year to support their hometown team. We had a great time at Coca-Cola Field today, and it was an honor to throw out the first pitch.  Thankfully, the team’s pitchers throw the ball better than I do,” said Majority Leader Lorigo.

Also representing the Caucus were Legislator Lynne Dixon, Legislator Edward A. Rath, III and Legislator Ted Morton.

“Best of luck to the Buffalo Bisons on a great season! I was honored to mark another exciting year of baseball by presenting a proclamation to the Bisons organization in recognition of the vital role they play in our community. My family and I have enjoyed attending games for many years and look forward to continuing that tradition,” said Legislator Rath.

Before the start of the game, Legislator Rath presented the county proclamation to Mike Buczkowski, Vice President and General Manager of the Bisons, and thanked team owner Bob Rich for supporting baseball in Buffalo.

“It is great to have baseball in Buffalo thanks to the Rich family, along with the efforts of the late Mayor Jimmy Griffin and other advocates. It has become a great summer tradition in Buffalo and we are proud to be a part of it,” said Legislator Dixon.

Legislator Morton also extended his encouragement to the team.

“Congratulations to the Bisons on opening the 130th year of professional baseball in Buffalo. Wishing the team the best of luck and hopefully you bring home a championship this year,” Legislator Morton added.
