Legislature’s public hearing on proposed 2016 budget slated for Nov. 23

Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo, Chairman of the Finance and Management’s Budget Committee, announces that the annual public hearing on the proposed 2016 Erie County budget will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the Legislature, 92 Franklin St., Fourth Floor, Buffalo. All are welcome to attend and comment on the $1.6 billion budget.

 

“Taxpayers’ input in a significant part of the budget process and I encourage residents to attend the public hearing. These are your tax dollars and it is important that the Legislature hears from residents about what services and issues are most important to them,” said Majority Leader Lorigo. “The Legislature also accepts and reviews written comment that can be submitted to the Clerk of the Legislature. Please take the time to get involved and let the Legislature know your concerns.”

The Legislature is in the process of reviewing the County Executive’s proposed spending plan and any proposed amendments will be voted on at the annual budget meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1.

 

Residents wishing to comment on the budget can do so by emailing the Clerk of the Legislature at karen.mccarthy@erie.gov or mail to the Clerk of the Legislature, 92 Franklin St., Fourth Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202. Residents who want to speak at the public hearing must sign up when they arrive and will be allowed 3 minutes to offer their comments.
