Legislator Dixon recognizes Lackawanna 1st Ward Councilman John Ingram as Erie County Legislature Citizen of the Month

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon recognized Lackawanna 1st Ward Councilman John Ingram as the Legislature’s October 2019 Citizen of the Month Thursday afternoon.

John Ingram was born and raised in Lackawanna and attended Lackawanna High School. He went on to study at Cornell University and Hyatt University before beginning his private and public sector career in Hilton Head, South Carolina. While in Hilton Head he served on many boards of directors for public agencies and non-profits including the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island, the Boys and Girls Club of Hilton Head, the United Way and the Minority Business Council. He also served on committees including the Mayor’s Task Force on Crime and Drug Prevention, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, and the Minority Business Council.

John Ingram eventually returned to his hometown of Lackawanna where he has proudly served his community since. In addition to being the First Ward Councilman, he is on the boards for Men in Action, Justice for All WNY, Friends of the Lackawanna Library, Erie County Communality Action Organization, and is President of the Glover Garden Tenant Council. He has played an instrumental role in the success of Lackawanna Community Days, expanding library services, and making improvements to public transportation services offered by the NFTA. 

Legislator Dixon said, “John Ingram is an outstanding person and public servant. I’ve been proud to work with him during my time representing Lackawanna. His dedication to improving the city he grew up has made our community an even better place. He is incredibly deserving of this honor and we appreciate all he has done.”
