Erie County Legislator Chris Greene recently sponsored a resolution to celebrate National Nurses Week and recognize their part in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. There are more than 15,000 registered nurses, 1,300 nurse practitioners and 4,500 licensed practical nurses from Erie County.

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually to thank the individuals who demonstrate compassion and kindness and deliver quality care to patients on a day-to-day basis. For over a year, nurses have been working on the frontlines of the pandemic and going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of our friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and acquaintances.

Legislator Greene said, “There is no way to put into words the amount of care and compassion nurses demonstrate for their patients each and every day. They are always there--ready and willing to help— whenever anyone needs it. Nurses have stepped up to the plate during the pandemic and knocked it out of the park. Thank you to all of the men and women in the nursing field.”
