Erie County Legislator Chris Greene recently presented proclamations to Catia Pecoraro and Angela Seo who are co-candidates for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year award through the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) program at Williamsville North High School.

DECA’s programs provide students with opportunities to demonstrate the knowledge and skills learned in and out of the classroom through innovative challenges. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a nonprofit established in 1949, is dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers.

Angela Seo and Catia Pecoraro helped to recruit 20 students to become part of a fundraising team that used social media, a silent auction and outreach to local businesses to raise over $11,000 for the LLS.

Legislator Greene said, “Congratulations to Angela and Catia on a job well done! The two joined forces to support a very worthwhile cause. Between Angela’s dedication to raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Catia’s outstanding leadership and commitment to helping individuals in need—the two are a force to be reckoned with! This award is very well-deserved.”
