Erie County Legislator John Mills joined Concord Senior Center resident Marion Ahles at a special celebration for her 103rd birthday Wednesday afternoon.

Marion graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute in 1933 and went on to serve as a machinist making parts for military aircrafts during World War II. Some of Marion’s other accomplishments include managing a furniture re-upholstery business and founding and managing the Springville Rifle and Pistol Club. She remains active at the senior center and credits her long life to a “never fail” attitude, eating healthy, loving life, and always being willing to learn new things. In addition to the proclamation, Legislator Mills gifted Marion with a bag full of ingredients to make her favorite treat – s’mores.

Legislator Mills said, “Marion is a wonderful woman who has enriched the lives of many. It was my pleasure to join her in celebration of her 103rd birthday. This is truly an incredible milestone and I wish her continued health and happiness.”

A copy of the full proclamation can be found here.
