Legislator Mills said, “As long as I have represented this community, I have been proud to work with many of these outstanding organizations. It’s important to support the work they are doing, which is why I am always eager to advocate for additional funding to help them grow. In many cases, these individuals are going above and beyond to serve all corners of our community while working on a tight budget. Any little bit of help they receive goes a long way.”

Robert Wellington, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston said, “In June of 2019, the Town of Boston opened its arms and the Boys & Girls Club opened its doors for the first time and is now serving over 100 children.  The grant we received from Legislator Mills will be used in a variety of ways including electrical updates, enhancing our computer learning center, staffing, programming, resurfacing pool tables, completion of a new durable floor, and marketing.  This gift from Legislator Mills and the Erie County Legislature is tremendous for the spirit of our Club kids, the morale of our staff, and confirmation for The Boys & Girls Club of Boston and for the community. We are beyond grateful and humbled, and look forward to using these funds to continue to move our club forward.”

Christine Lewis, interim executive director of the Children’s League of Springville said, “I can’t begin to tell Legislator Mills how grateful we are for the $5,000 grant he has designated for The Children’s League.  This is a wonderful gift and so generous and will be used to fulfill some much needed equipment that will be used by both the children and staff. “

Jim Lawicki, President of the Polish American Congress of WNY said, "On behalf of the Polish American Congress, Western New York Division, its Officers, Directors, and Membership, I am pleased to announce that Erie County has awarded our organization a $3k grant for community projects that promote Polish culture and topics relevant to Poland. I especially would like to thank Legislator John Mills for advocating for this grant. I also want to express my sincere thanks to the entire Erie County Legislature and County Executive for their support in approving the grant. Western New York is home to nearly 350,000 individuals of Polish American descent. It is important and necessary that our Community have the support and resources it needs to promote Polish culture."
