Erie County Legislator Ed Rath recently presented a proclamation to former Hearts and Hands Executive Director Kathy Oczek thanking her for her work with the organization and congratulating her on her retirement.

Hearts and Hands is a volunteer organization devoted to providing caregiver and transportation services to those in need. Under Kathy’s leadership, Hearts and Hands expanded service into the Kenmore and Tonawanda area. She also helped launch the “Coffee and Conversation” program designed to alleviate care receiver loneliness by providing Tim Hortons gift cards encouraging volunteers and care receivers to socialize. Hearts and Hands’ Ford Friendship Van, which was awarded during Kathy’s tenure, allows them to provide small group transportation to low income seniors for shopping and other social events.

Legislator Rath said, “I’m proud to offer my continued support to Hearts and Hands and thank Kathy as well as the many volunteers who have contributed to the organization’s success. Congratulations to Kathy for all her accomplishments, and best of luck to her in her retirement!”
