Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently announced a public hearing will be held in regards to a local law authorizing 12 and 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow under the supervision of a licensed and experienced adult. Currently, 12 and 13-year-olds are able to only hunt deer with a bow or small game with firearms.

Legislator Todaro said, “My colleagues and I have been pushing to get a public hearing scheduled on this matter for months and I look forward to finally hearing my constituents’ input. I have enjoyed hunting my whole life—starting out with my father and now sharing the experience with my sons and daughter—I know first-hand how important it is to teach the basics of hunting to the younger generations so we can have safer woods. I urge everyone to attend so we can take a vote on this local law and get it passed.”

The public hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th floor of 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY 14202.
