Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro has honored Mr. Tom Fay on his retirement after a long and successful career. Mr. Fay has spent the last 41 years of his 50 year teaching career at St. Mary’s High School

Mr. Fay was hired by St. Mary’s High School back in 1979—where he taught all levels of religion, math and Latin. Mr. Fay began his teaching career in the Buffalo Public School System and then worked at Holy Redeemer Elementary School, Cardinal O’Hara High School and Canisius High School. During his tenure at St. Mary’s, Mr. Fay has held many roles—including teacher, Dean of Curriculum, member of the Campus Ministry, Chairperson of the Math Department, President of the Faculty Senate, the Assistant Principle, and school bus driver.

During Mr. Fay’s 50 years of teaching, he has lived by the motto: “I am thankful for the past, hopeful for the future and faith grounded in the present.”

Legislator Todaro said, “I want to send a big, heartfelt congratulations and thank you to Mr. Fay. He has put in years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice to make sure his students received the best education possible.  He will be missed in the teaching community, but I am positive that his energy and love for his children has provided a wonderful example for his colleagues to follow.”
