Erie County Legislators Ed Rath and Lynne Dixon attended a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York’s new facility in Amherst Monday morning.

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The new, larger office will allow the association to meet the growing demand for care and services. It will also have additional room for programs and services as well as private family meetings with staff.

Legislator Rath said, “It was an honor to be part of the official grand opening celebration. We are grateful for everything our local chapter does in search of a cure for Alzheimer’s and for the outstanding care they provide to those affected by this terrible disease.  Wishing them the best of luck in their new location!”

Legislator Dixon said, “Nearly 400,000 people in New York State are affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association does incredible work researching, raising awareness, and helping those living with the disease as well as their families. Our community is fortunate to have access to the care and dedication of our local chapter’s staff and volunteers. It was great to be part of celebrating their new location.”
