Erie County Legislators Frank Todaro and Ed Rath visited the annual Rock out Hunger drive to make a donation on behalf of the Minority Caucus of the Legislature.

For the 15th year, 97 Rock’s DJ Dave Jickster lived in a truck for several days collecting food and cash to benefit FeedMore WNY and help out neighbors in need during the holiday season. The annual event raised over $53,000 in cash and over 2,300 turkeys were donated. Legislators Rath and Todaro delivered 10 turkeys to DJ Jickster Tuesday morning as the drive wrapped up.

Legislator Todaro said, “A huge thank you goes out to 97 Rock and DJ Jickster for putting together such a successful event year after year. ‘Rock out Hunger’ helps replenish the supplies over at FeedMore WNY which then in turn puts food on the table for families who are working hard to just make ends meet. My heart warmed when I heard just how much was donated; we are a tight knit group here in Western New York and the community never fails to show up when people are in need. What a great way to kick off the holiday season.”

Legislator Rath said, “Events like ‘Rock out Hunger’ are important always, but especially now more than ever—with the holidays fast approaching.  There isn’t a single person or organization the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t taken a toll on. It is important that we lend a helping hand to help get our neighbors back on their feet and food on their tables. This is a beautiful example of what happens when the community comes together for a common cause. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make sure this event went off without a hitch.”

The turkeys were donated by Legislators Lorigo, Mills, Todaro, and Rath.
