Members of the Erie County Legislature’s Minority Caucus donated and delivered 35 turkeys to 97 Rock and FeedMore WNY’s 14th annual ‘Rock out Hunger’ drive at Millard Fillmore Hospital. All donations collected helped provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need. The turkeys were delivered by Legislators Lynne Dixon, Ed Rath, and Legislator-elect Frank Todaro. DJ Jickster was also presented with a proclamation recognizing him for his efforts to fight hunger. This year, it is anticipated that roughly 2,600 turkeys, 11,000 pounds of non-perishable foods, and $36,000 were donated.

Legislator Rath said, “My colleagues and I are proud to support this cause each year. DJ Jickster has been living in a trailer for a week collecting thousands of donations to make sure every family has access to a Thanksgiving meal. We appreciate his efforts as well as FeedMore WNY’s ongoing fight against hunger.”

Legislator Dixon said, “Thank you to DJ Jickster, 97 Rock, FeedMore WNY, volunteers, and all others who make Rock out Hunger possible. The donations DJ Jickster has collected will help provide thousands of families with a Thanksgiving meal. It is the generosity of people throughout Western New York that makes our community such a great place to live.”

DJ Jickster said, “It’s great to have local politicians and members of the community get involved in this annual drive. This puts a small dent in fighting hunger throughout the community, and most importantly, draws awareness toward FeedMore WNY.”

Lauren Picone, Government Affairs Manager for FeedMore WNY said, “FeedMore WNY is honored and humbled by the continued support from the Erie County Legislature’s Minority Caucus. Year after year, the members of the Minority Caucus have taken the time to come out to Rock Out Hunger in order to thank DJ Jickster and all of our hardworking volunteers, as well as donate turkeys for our families in need throughout Western New York. We are so thankful for their generosity.”

This year’s campaign was also sponsored by WKBW and Kaleida Health.
