During Thursday’s session, the Erie County Legislature approved Legislator Lorigo’s resolution requesting the county’s Department of Public Works create a mobile app allowing users to report potholes and receive status updates on repairs. (WIVB: Legislator Lorigo proposes app to report potholes across Erie County)

Legislator Lorigo said, “I am pleased to have the support of my colleagues for this initiative to improve public safety and address widespread road issues throughout Erie County. I have spoken with individuals from the City of Buffalo who have used the city’s 311 app and they have seen an increase in repairs and quicker response times. GIS technology would allow residents the opportunity to take a picture of a pothole, geotag it, and upload it directly to our County DPW.  After that, DPW can follow up and report its progress directly to the app so that residents know something is being done. I look forward to working with the Department of Works to have this implemented as soon as possible.”
