School Tax Bills

Sent out each year by mid-September and are due on or about October 15th. (See current bill for exact due date.) Tax bills paid after the due date are assessed penalties. The Town Clerk's office generally collects these payments thru November 30th each year.

Penalties are added as follows: (Dates may vary slightly, see current bill.)

October 16 – October 31         7.5%
November 1 – November 30     9.0%

Unpaid school taxes are turned over to Erie County where payments can be made during December. Any unpaid balances are re-levied and added to the next Town & County tax bill.

Partial Payments

Partial payments in any amount are now accepted at the Town Clerk's office. New legislation was passed in February 2006 allowing towns and school districts who wish to participate to accept payments in any amount. Prior to the new legislation, we were only able to collect 50% of the total amount due. Penalties will apply to unpaid balances after the due date.

General Information

Our policy for the last few years has been to send all tax bills out to all property owners, whether or not you are in escrow. It has been difficult keeping track of all accounts due to the number of sales and refinancing. If you are in escrow, just keep the bill for your records. We continue to work with all financial institutions in making sure they get your tax information. Much of it is done electronically.

If you no longer own a piece of property, please try to forward the bill to the new owner in a timely manner or call the Town Clerk's office immediately and we will try to locate the new owner.

According to New York State Real Property Tax Law, property owners are responsible for all taxes, whether or not they receive a bill. If you do not receive a bill, contact the Town Clerk's office at 741-8938 as soon as possible.
