Registration Renewal Envelopes Now Available at all Dunn Tire locations

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs and Dunn Tire announced that motorists will now be able to find the signature green “Renew Local” envelopes at any of the Dunn Tire locations throughout Erie County.

The Clerk’s Office is asking motorists to “Renew Local” when renewing their auto registration in order to keep 12.7% of vehicle registration fees here in Erie County rather than sending 100% to Albany. Taxpayers should know that when they renew their registration locally, at any of the Erie County Auto Bureaus or mail their renewal directly to the County Clerk’s Office, the financial impact to the County would be upwards of an additional $1.5 million in revenue per year.

“I want to thank Dunn Tire and their entire team for working in partnership with us to make it easier for motorists to ‘Renew Local’ by making our postage-paid registration renewal envelopes available at their counters for their customers to find,” said Jacobs. “This is a perfect example of the public and private sector teaming up for the benefit of the community. Erie County has over 600,000 registered vehicles on the road and thousands of those motorists come to Dunn Tire for their automotive needs, so this partnership makes perfect sense.”

Jacobs stated “By making our signature green envelopes more easily accessible, it will increase the number of vehicle owners who choose to renew locally.” Motorists can simply drop the completed renewal form, along with their check payable to the Erie County Clerk, in any mailbox, using the postage-paid envelope. “As participation in the program increases, the amount of money staying in Erie County increases,” added Jacobs.

“The additional revenues generated support local Auto Bureau operations, along with helping to pay for other services and programs important to this community,” said Clerk Jacobs.

“As County Clerk, my office continues to find new ways to look out for our residents, and this is one initiative that does just that,” said Jacobs. “Our hope is that by making our signature green envelopes more easily accessible, with the addition of the Dunn Tire, it will increase the number of vehicle owners who renew local.”

In addition to the Dunn Tire locations, the Clerk’s Office offers a number of convenient options for motorists to obtain the postage-paid green envelopes such as any of the Erie County Auto Bureaus or Mobile Sites, at the Clerk’s Office in Old County Hall and at their Village, City or Town Clerk’s Offices, and all 37 branches of the Erie County and Buffalo Public Libraries. Residents can also visit renewlocal.erie.gov to request a "RENEW LOCAL" envelope be sent to them directly.

If your company or auto-related businesses would like to help spread the message and join in the “Renew Local” initiative, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 858-7754 or e-mail at ErieCountyClerkOffice@erie.gov to request a display.
