**Attention Pistol Permit Holders and Licensed Gun Dealers:
With the goal of reducing the time it takes to get a pistol permit in Erie County, County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that beginning December 3, 2014 the Pistol Permit Office will be closed to the public on Wednesdays to process new applications. This initiative comes just after Jacobs and his team completed a comprehensive “Re-engineering” analysis of the Pistol Permit Department.
The hours for the Pistol Permit Department on the other days of the week will remain Monday, Tuesday, Thrusday and Friday from 9:00 AM- 4:45 PM.

Erie County has a large community of Pistol permit holders and is prepared to provide services to both new and existing residents. Feel free to come in and check out our new plastic card permits and find out if it would be more convenient for you.
We appreciate the need for expediency and have made many forms available for you to download so as to ease your registration and general permit needs. **EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 3, 2014, the Pistol Permit Department will be CLOSED to the PUBLIC on Wednesdays in order to process new applications.
NOTE: Please be in line with completed documents no later than 4:30 p.m.
New Applicants need to present application paperwork no later than 4:15 p.m in order to be processed.

Press Release: Jacobs Announces Pistol Permit Privacy Form Now Available
As per New York State Police Pistol Permit Division, every firearms receipt must include all of the following:
Action (Revolver, Semi-Auto, Single-Shot, Derringer)
The NICS form, along with purchase receipt, must be brought to the Pistol Permit Office in order for the gun to put on buyer’s permit.
IF ALL THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS NOT INCLUDED, YOUR TRANSACTION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
