The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is an all-encompassing audited financial report for Erie County as a whole. It includes financial statements for all operations, narrative information and analyses, updated debt disclosures, multi-year statistical trend information, and reports and opinions from the County's independent auditor. This report serves to fulfill the County's legal requirement for a financial audit and countywide financial report for the fiscal year.
Quarterly reports on financial conditions are a standard practice in the private sector and, I am proud to say, have become the norm for Erie County under my administration. Beginning in 2006, the comptroller's office now issues comprehensive and detailed quarterly reports on Erie County's finances. These reports have helped the county executive, Legislature, Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority and Wall Street better understand the issues facing Erie County.
