Comptroller Mychajliw encourages taxpayers and businesses to choose for themselves whether or not they “mask up” while indoors

(ERIE COUNTY, NY) – Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw strongly encouraged all businesses in his Hamburg home and across Erie County to boycott any indoor mask mandates forced upon taxpayers by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.  Comptroller Mychajliw also reiterated his position and payment plan policy for any business facing a COVID-related fine by the Erie County Health Department.

“Mark Poloncarz was caught playing hockey yet banned kids from ice rinks. The County Executive golfed mask-less and boozed with his mates yet instituted strict mask mandates for others.  Poloncarz is lining the pockets of salaried, political patronage employees with unlimited overtime while families suffer.  He’s a hypocrite hell bent on hurting families.”

“I call on all Erie County businesses to boycott any indoor mask mandate Mark Poloncarz tries to enforce.  Taxpayers should choose for themselves if they want to wear a mask or not.  If a business chooses to implement a mask mandate, fine, that is their choice. Too many small businesses closed or were destroyed by Mark Poloncarz already because of COVID lockdowns.  Do not comply. Resist indoor mask mandates. Remain open,” said Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw Jr.

Comptroller Mychajliw is notifying Erie County businesses of his staggered payment plan meant to provide financial relief to those facing fines from the Erie County Department of Health:

  • $1,000 or less: 20-year payment plan
  • $1,001 to $5,000: 30-year payment plan
  • $5,001 to $10,000: 40-year payment plan
  • $10,001 to $15,000: 50-year payment plan
  • $15,001 and above:  100-year payment plan

Poloncarz lied. Told us life can get back to ‘normal’ if everyone got vaccinated. This was a manipulative lie. What is the point of getting vaccinated if people are forced to wear masks indoors? When will this insanity end that is hurting small businesses? Enough. Boycott the Poloncarz indoor mask mandate.  If ‘Doctor Overtime” fines businesses, I’ll simply give them 100 years to pay it back,” concluded Comptroller Mychajliw.
