More than $20,000 in funds shared with snowmobile club that is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of 58 miles of trails

(Hamburg) – Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw Jr. delivered the second of two government grants to Hamburg Snowmobile Club President Jason Larson.  The snowmobile club’s first installment check in the spring from Erie County totaled $14,775.60.  The second and final fall payment to the Hamburg Snowmobile club totaled $5,660.40.  The total amount of county funds provided to the club for 2021: $20,436.

The Hamburg Snowmobile Club has more than 400 registered members.  For receiving county funds, the organization is responsible for maintaining trails, building bridges, repairing culverts, and keeping 58 miles of trails in the Southtowns clear for snowmobiling.

All members of the Hamburg Snowmobile Club are volunteers.  They work collaboratively with 202 private landowners, utility companies and municipalities to maintain trails for users.

“The Hamburg Snowmobile Club provides a great service to Erie County taxpayers.  Government does not have the resources or capabilities to properly maintain snowmobile trails.  Politicians can barely maintain roads, let alone provide maintenance for snowmobile trails.  All our clubs do a phenomenal job giving snowmobilers a safe riding experience,” said Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw Jr.

By law New York State sets the start of snowmobile season at sunset of the last day of hunting season and ends on April 1st.  For more information on the Hamburg Snowmobile Club people can visit www.hamburgsledheads.com.
