This course will address the roll of law enforcement and investigative techniques to increase offender accountability of specialized areas that constitute child abuse.
Topics include:
- "How to deal with cases of suspected child maltreatment - An overview of Child Protection Services" - Elizabeth A. Noonan, Erie County Child Protection Team Leader and Gretchen Hoist, DFA
- "How to investigate crimes against children involving the internet" - Detective Michael Hockwater, Cheektowaga Police Department, Beth Solek, Erie County District Attorneys Office
- "Identifying medical signs of abuse" - Deborah Dee and Dr. William Canavan - Mecical Director, Child Advocacy Center
Target Audience:
This course is recommended for all sworn officers

- Agencies may be limited in enrollment to allow equal opportunity to this course
- There is no cost for Erie County Police Agencies. Other agencies should call to see if a fee applies
- Out of County officers must provide a certificate of residency form

Uniform or shirt and tie for men, proper business attire for women; blue jeans are "NOT" acceptable
