Instructor Development Course

The Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, will be conducting the Instructor Development Course at the Training Academy at Erie Community College - North Campus, 6205 Main Street, Williamsville, NY. This course will give officers the ability to research, prepare and communicate knowledge in the field of law enforcement. Lessons focus on setting instructional objectives, factors that influence adult learning, communication skills, the instructional process and methods of evaluating course effectiveness. Successful students will recieve certification for General Topics. This important course is a prerequisite for other instructor courses since it covers the basic instructional techniques.
This course is recommended for all sworn officers. This course in indicated for police officers who will be conducting in-service departmental training programs or lecturing at the Police Academy.
You must recieve confirmation on attendance for this course.
Placement is NOT on a firsst-come-first-serve basis
Course enrollment will be strictly limited to thirty (30) students, (maximum five (5) out of county) no exceptions
Agencies may be limited in enrollment to allow equal opportunity to this course.
There is no cost for Erie County Agencies. Other agencies should call to see if a fee applies.
Out of County officers must provide a certificate of residency form.

Police Uniform or shirt and tie for men, proper business attire for women; blue jeans are NOT acceptable
