160 hours Field Training by Employing Agency, to be completed by April 9, 2020
Description:
Police Equivalency Course - Phase 2. After appointment, a police officer who completed the Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Course must complete the second phase of training. Police officers are required to complete the Basic Course for Police Officers pursuant to §209-q of the General Municipal Law. State law and regulation require police officers attend the Basic Course for Police Officers within one year of appointment. In the case of newly sworn police officers who have completed the Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Course, they will attend a Basic Course for Police Officers using the Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Course as their pre-requisite. Only sworn police officers may attend the Basic Course for Police Officers and receive certification. This applies to the units presented in the second phase of training.
160 hours of Field Training must be completed at the employing agency.
Target Audience:
Newly sworn police officers who have completed the Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Course. Any Department anticipating hiring a pre-employment officer needing Phase II should contact the academy ASAP as this course is scheduled based on demand.

- Out of county officers must provide a certificate of residency form. Call if additional information is needed.
- Unless enrollment permits otherwise, agencies are limited to allow equal opportunity to this course.
- There is no cost for Erie County Agencies. Out of county agencies will be charged 1,000.00 registration fee.
