Accidental Shooting Leads to a Guilty Plea for Illegally Possessing a Weapon

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 17 year old Savonne Martin of 239 Sunridge Drive, Amherst, pleaded guilty, as charged, to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree before Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang. These are the highest charges for which Martin could have been convicted had he gone to trial. 

Martin admitted that on December 20, 2011, while playing with a loaded handgun on LaSalle Avenue in Buffalo, he shot a female who was pregnant.    

Martin faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years when he is sentenced on September 4, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. before Justice Wolfgang.
