Buffalo Man Charged in Fillmore Avenue Murder

First Assistant Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that at 2:00 p.m. today 15 year-old Alonte Works of 289 Reed Street, Buffalo, will be arraigned before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case on an indictment charging him with the one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on October 22, 2015, at the 50/50 Convenience Store, 441 Fillmore Avenue in the City of Buffalo, Works murdered 31 year-old Jonathan Jones of 67 Comstock Avenue, Buffalo, by shooting him.  Flaherty praised Buffalo Police Department officers Kevin Kennedy and Daniel O’Neill and Homicide Detectives Brendan Kiefer and Patricia Wrest for their efforts leading to the apprehension of Works. 

If convicted of this crime, Works faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years-to-life in state prison. 

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
