Ohio Man Charged in Buffalo Murder

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 34 year-old Abimael Ayala-Gonzalez, aka “Javi”, aka “Rabito”, aka “Mijo” of Lorain, Ohio, will be arraigned at 9:15 a.m. before Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns on an indictment charging him with Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. 

It is alleged that on August 7, 2014 at 351 Herkimer Street, Buffalo, Ayala-Gonzalez murdered 52 year-old Manuel Mateo of 191st Street, Washington Heights, New York, NY, by shooting him.  Ayala-Gonzalez was apprehended in Lorain, Ohio on February 23, 2014 and subsequently extradited to Buffalo on a murder warrant. 

If convicted of this crime, Ayala-Gonzalez faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years to life. 

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
