Amherst Woman Pleads Guilty to Grand Larceny Charge for Stealing More Than $380,000 From Former Employer

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 63-year-old Kathleen Donhauser of Amherst pleaded guilty on Friday morning before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class “D” felony.

The defendant admitted that between May 14, 2013 and April 19, 2017, she stole $389,187.00 while working for Hart Hotels, Inc. The defendant used the money to pay her personal credit card bills. She agreed to pay restitution as part of her guilty plea.

Donhauser faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when she is sentenced on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. She remains released on his own recognizance.

DA Flynn commends Detective John Payne of the Orchard Park Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gary M. Ertel of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit.
