Buffalo Man Charged After Investigation Uncovers Illegal Guns in His Apartment and Vehicle

PRESS RELEASE FROM MAY 2, 2022

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old Lemuel Figueroa of Buffalo was arraigned before Tonawanda Town Justice Justice Daniel T. Cavarello on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony) on April 29, 2022.

It is alleged that on April 28, 2022, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the defendant, who the subject of an investigation by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, was located at a parking lot on Milens Road in the Town of Tonawanda where he was taken into custody without incident. Investigators executed a search warrant of defendant’s vehicle and allegedly found a loaded illegal gun inside.

Figueroa is scheduled to return on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. for a felony hearing. Bail was set at $50,000.00 cash or $100,000.00 bond or partially secured bond.

DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Anthony F. Perna of the Felony Trials Bureau.  

 As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

 

PRESS RELEASE FROM APRIL 29, 2022

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old Lemuel Figueroa of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Kevin J. Keane on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony), one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” misdemeanors).

It is alleged that on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence on East Amherst Street in the City of Buffalo. Inside of the apartment, investigators allegedly found an illegal loaded firearm and a digital scale with suspected cocaine residue. Two children allegedly reside in the home.

Figueroa is scheduled to return to Buffalo City Court on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was remanded without bail.

It is further alleged that on April 28, 2022, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the defendant was found inside of a vehicle in a parking lot on Milens Road in the Town of Tonawanda where he was taken into custody without incident. Investigators executed a search warrant of the vehicle and allegedly found another illegal loaded gun.

Figueroa was charged with an additional count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. A court date for the arraignment on the charge in Tonawanda Town Court has not been scheduled at this time.

If convicted of all charges, Figueroa faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
