Buffalo Man Charged in Shooting That Killed One, Injured Another

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Lemuele Jackson of Buffalo was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Debra Givens yesterday on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. 

On August 4, 2018, at approximately 10:40 p.m., it is alleged that the defendant fired multiple shots into a group of people outside of a house party on Hagen Street in the City of Buffalo. A 36-year-old woman was shot in the leg, but survived her injury. Another woman, 26-year-old Santana Anderson, was shot in the head and died at the scene.

Jackson is scheduled to return for a felony hearing on Friday, August 24 at 9:30 a.m. He remains remanded without bail.

If convicted on all charges, Jackson faces 50 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Det. Sgt. William Cooley, Det. Antonio Borrelli and Det. John Paradowski.

Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
