Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Charles Jones of Buffalo has been arraigned before Acting State Supreme Court Justice Sheila A. DiTullio on a superseding indictment charging him with two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, Class “A-1” felonies.

The defendant is accused of causing the death of his ex-girlfriend, 25-year-old Jacquetta Lee, by stabbing the victim to death inside her apartment on Main Street near Heath Street in the City of Buffalo. Her body was found on Thursday, July 18, 2019 after she was reported missing by family members.

It is further alleged that the defendant caused the death of his mother, 52-year-old Alethia Atwood Williams, by stabbing the victim to death inside her apartment on Jefferson Avenue near East Ferry Street in the City of Buffalo. Her body was found on Friday, August 16, 2019 when the Buffalo Police Department arrested the defendant for his alleged involvement in the death of Jacquetta Lee. While executing a search warrant inside the residence, investigators found the victim’s body inside a closet.

Jones is scheduled to return on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 2 p.m. for a pre-trial hearing. He continues to remain held without bail.

If convicted on the charge, he faces a maximum of 50 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Det. Sgt. Carl Lundin, Det. Adam Stephany, Det. Scott Malec and Det. Erin McCarty of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Louis C. Mussari of the DA’s Domestic Violence Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
