Buffalo Man Indicted on Murder and Assault Charges for Double Stabbing in City's Lovejoy Neighborhood

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Joshua Eddy of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony).  

It is alleged that on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the defendant stabbed two victims with a knife during an altercation. The crime occurred in the area of Ideal Street and East Lovejoy Street in the City of Buffalo.

One victim, a 27-year-old male, was taken to ECMC where he was hospitalized for an injury to his upper leg. The other victim, 32-year-old Hasheen Wilson, was stabbed multiple times in the chest and back. He was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was pronounced dead.

Eddy is scheduled to return on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 2:00 for a pre-trial conference. He continues to remain held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Eddy faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.  

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the Homicide Unit.  

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
