Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 38-year-old Michael Billups of Buffalo pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Justice Thomas P. Franczyk to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. 

On January 13, 2017, at 2:00 a.m., Erie County Sheriff’s Office narcotics personnel executed a search warrant signed by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case to search the defendant’s home for illegal narcotics. During the raid of defendant’s home, greater than four ounces of cocaine, with a street value of about $12,000, was found in a hidden compartment of a fake book which was on defendant’s bookshelf.  Also found under a couch cushion was a loaded .38 caliber revolver. 

Billups faces up to fifteen years in prison when he is sentenced on July 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. by Justice Franczyk.
