Buffalo Man Sentenced on Attempted Sex Abuse Charge

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old John L. Williams, Jr. of Buffalo was sentenced this morning by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to 6 months in jail followed by 10 years of sex offender probation. 

The defendant admitted that between December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020, he attempted to subject a juvenile victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion at a location in the City of Buffalo.  

Williams guilty to one count of Attempted Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class “E” felony, on October 15, 2020.

In addition to the sentence, Judge Bargnesi issued a 10 year order of protection on behalf of the victim.

DA Flynn commends Detective Nicole Wrazen of the Buffalo Police Department Special Victims Unit for her work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the DA’s Special Victims Unit.
