Buffalo Man Sentenced for Fatal Shooting on Wright Avenue

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Dominic Vereen of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to a determinate sentence of 20 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

The defendant admitted that on June 21, 2018, he fatally shot 24-year-old Dennis Thompson inside a home on Wright Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Last month, Vereen pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective Christopher Sterlace, Detective Terry Supples and Detective Mark White of the Buffalo Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Stephen C. Earnhart of the DA’s Domestic Violence Bureau.
