Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Alec M. Swiderski of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to a determinate sentence of 25 years in prison and 5 years post release supervision.

The defendant admitted that on or about December 23, 2018, he caused the death of his grandmother, 74-year-old Pamela Toy, by beating and strangling her.

Swiderski pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” felony, on August 26, 2019.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Bill Cooley and Scott Malec of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.
