Buffalo Man Sentenced for Killing Teenager in Reckless Shooting Inside His Fisher Street Home

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Kel Leed D. Alexander of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to an indeterminate term of 1 to 3 years in prison on both counts to which he pleaded guilty to be served concurrently.   

On Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the defendant recklessly caused the death of a 16-year-old male by firing a single shot from an illegal handgun, which hit the victim on the left side of the head. The incident occurred inside of the defendant’s residence on Fisher Street in the City of Buffalo.

Alexander pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony) on September 13, 2022. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges in the indictment against him.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the Homicide Unit and Assistant District Attorney Nicholas C. Bussi of the Felony Trials Bureau.
