Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 39-year-old Hu Sin of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to a determinate sentence of 15 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision.

On May 25, 2017, the defendant entered a woman’s apartment and raped her.

jury found the defendant guilty, as charged, of Rape in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree in May 2018.

In addition to his sentence, Judge Bargnesi issued an order of protection for the victim. The defendant will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

DA Flynn commends Buffalo Police Department Sex Offense Squad Detectives, Mark Costantino, Vatasha Tibbs and Jeff Banes; Detective James McMahon and Officer Adam Meilcarek for their thorough work on the case.

Assistant District Attorneys Bethany A. Solek and Anthony M. Rossi of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case.
