Buffalo Man to Serve Prison Sentence for Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Child

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 39-year-old Antoniel I. Colon of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to 15 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

The defendant admitted to attempting to engage in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a child who was less than 13-years-old. The crimes occurred at a location in the City of Buffalo on various occasions between July 11, 2017 and May 28, 2019.

Colon pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree (Class “C” felony) on November 16, 2021.

Today, Justice Haendiges issued a final order of protection on behalf of the victim, which remains in effect until March 2, 2056.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Vatasha Tibbs and Jeff Banes of the Buffalo Police Department Special Victims Unit for their work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Noha A. Elnakib of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Patrick E. Swanson of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
