Buffalo Man to Serve Time for Fatal Shooting on Goodyear Avenue

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Kyle Lovines of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to a determinate sentence of 19 years in prison.

On May 9, 2018, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the defendant fatally shot 23-year-old Chaz Carter on Goodyear Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Lovines pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” felony, in October 2018.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Detective Brendan Kiefer.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.
