Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Areyona Favors of Buffalo has been arraigned before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski on an indictment charging her with one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on Friday, August 17, at approximately 11 p.m., the defendant stabbed 21-year-old NaKara Morgan of Buffalo multiple times at a house party on Schreck Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim later died from her injuries at ECMC.

Favors is scheduled to return on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She remains remanded without bail.

If convicted on the charge, Favors faces 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Department, including Det. Scott Malec of the Homicide Squad.

Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
