Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old India Calhoun of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Kevin Keane on one count of Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a Class “B” felony, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class “A” misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

It is alleged that on Monday, December 31, 2018, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the defendant took an 8-month-old infant from a home on North Division Street in the City of Buffalo without permission from the child’s parent. The baby was found unharmed later that day on Edison Street.

Calhoun is scheduled to return on Friday, January 4 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing.

If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
