Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 43-year-old Chris Orgovan of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to three years in prison for biting off a man’s ear.

In August, Orgovan pleaded guilty to Assault in the Second Degree.

On June 11, 2017, at approximately 6:30 p.m. at a home on Kenmore Avenue in the City of Buffalo, Orgovan got into a verbal altercation with the victim and in the course of that argument, Orgovan bit the victim’s right ear, detaching part of that ear.

Buffalo Police Officer Robert Grande located the victim’s partial ear at the scene.  Members of the Buffalo Fire Department assisted the victim and were able to save the part of the ear that was bitten off.

The victim was transported to ECMC and doctors performed a successful reattachment.

DA Flynn commends the quick response and investigative work of Buffalo Police Officers Robert Grande, Thomas Sercu, Kevin Bridge, William Graeber and Buffalo Police Detective Amy Frankel.

Erin E. Hart of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau prosecuted the case.
